R&D Engineer

Job Description:


· Designs and develops instruments, and sterilization system products utilizing Solidworks 3D CAD software and company design control processes.


· Participates in a cross-functional product development team.


· Works with a team in the development and manufacture of working prototype models to be used for project design evaluation. Works closely with the Suzhou plant manufacturing engineers.


· Generates protocols for testing and analyzing new and current products. Works with US team to translate from English to Chinese. Identifies China local test houses and interfaces with them as the R&D representative.


· Creates and processes Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s)


· Other duties as assigned.






Requirements:

· Undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering.



· Min 2-5 years of CAD design work. At least 1 year with Solidworks.


· Speaks, writes, and generally fluent in English. Must be able to communicate technical/industry specific terminology.


· Demonstrated success as a team member in cross-functional product development teams from concept through product launch, including demonstrated planning, organizing and time management skills.


· Knowledge of design for manufacture (i.e. DFM).


· Knowledge in the use and interpretation of geometric dimensioning and tolerance (i.e. GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2009).


· Product development experience in orthopedic medical devices is a plus. (hip, knee, spine, trauma, dental, etc. are all acceptable)


· Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, including knowledge of machine, forge, cast manufacturing methods and associated vendors is a plus.
