· Play a cost and Value Engineering Expert Philips worldwide to improve total end-to-end cost and value. We cooperate globally across Philips business functions to make better products at lower cost.



You are responsible for

1. You initiate improvement and optimization activities in close cooperation with your partners in innovation, procurement and operations through applying cost and value engineering levers.

2. You improve the competitiveness and profitability of products and services through cost analysis, design to value, modularization and standardization.

3. You are responsible for cost and value engineering projects, trainings and coaching.

4. Within procurement, you support the engineering and commodity teams to drive forward supplier productivity.

5. Establish cost and value engineering as a key process in Philips you support businesses and collaborate across functions to realize improvement roadmaps.

6. As an active member of the Centre of Excellence, you support the drive for a larger Community of Practice on Cost Engineering in Philips.

7. You identify best practices, promote active knowledge sharing in your network of cost and value engineers, and through this improve our current working processes, methods, tools and standards.



You are a part of

· The global Cost Master team, which is part of Design for excellence (Daft) and consists of 12 passionate Cost Engineers located in the United States, Netherlands and China.


To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

· BS/MS degree in a technical subject (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Software Engineering or similar)

· 5+ years of work experience in a technology company (e.g. Consumer Electronics, Lighting, Healthcare, Automotive) in product innovation, research, procurement, production/manufacturing, product management/marketing or similar function

· Experience to facilitate better decision making in product creation and procurement

· Project management experience gained e.g. in lean manufacturing, six sigma programs, consulting

· Experience in leading an expert network in specific technical knowledge areas

· Strong teaming skills to drive change and challenge project teams

· Strong English communication skills, ability to convince and to pitch/present your solution to project teams and management

· Experience in cost management, quality management and/or supply chain management

· A sound and practical capability to develop optimized systems (cost and value) and convince cross functional partners of the solution
