For over 10 years, Philips Ultrasound (Shanghai) Co. Ltd., has been a leading company in design, develop and manufacture medical ultrasound transducer for variety of applications. The company has become member of Philips Healthcare since 2010 and continues actively to provide high quality, high performance products to medical ultrasound customers.
This position will be located in Pudong, Shanghai, China.
In this role, you have the opportunity to
· Provide cost savings through cost down projects and new product introduction(NPI) projects
· Be a key partner in significant product cost reduction activities, in early phase innovation or in the manufacturing phase.
· Contributes to developing the cost engineering function
You are responsible for
1. Identify opportunities in the new product design process through target costing, and managing cost drivers and data sources to improve the design decision making
2. Conduct RFQ, sample ordering, material readiness follow-up, supplier business award in NPI, sustaining change and transfer projects.
3. Support DFM activities in terms of the requirement identified by the project
4. Initiate sourcing plan on all major NPDL projects. Create clear transparency and decision on key exceptions/risks on the project at each phase gate.
5. Partner with Supplier Quality to scope and plan APQP deployment on active NPI projects
6. Support the in/outsourcing process (e.g. knowledge transfer, supplier ramp-up); Provides input for make or buy analysis, provide input to the Commodity Teams regarding the supply base characteristics based on business requirements
7. Support price negotiations with fact-based information and opportunities to drive short term product cost reduction improvement.
8. Owner for delivering the cost elements for assigned product, as required improving total cost of ownership for the cost roadmaps for key products, Support the deployment of early supplier involvement through target costing and tracking for assigned product or module;
9. Maintain updates to the costs for assigned product/module and ensure that cost models are up to date and information is available as required.
10. Execute and support phase in – phase Out (PIPO) planning related to new product introduction
11. Analyze cost trends, develop and review cost forecasts, landscape and technology roadmaps

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
1. Education: Bachelor or above degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
2. Experience: 7+ years of working experience in sourcing, strong experience in mechanical parts is preferred, Experience in NPI Project sourcing, experience in MNC in automotive or medical industry is preferred.
3. Competencies and skills:
o Good communication skills in both Chinese and English is required.
o Expertise in procurement, including sourcing (supplier development), NPI management, project management, commercial negotiation and business acumen.
o Take ownership, team-up, drive for result.
